How to restore your iPhone to iOS 8 and recover cell service and TouchID

Today Apple unleashed an update to iOS 8. Unfortunately, iOS 8.0.1 killed cell service and TouchID for many iPhone users. The iPhone without the actual phone part is really just an expensive iPod touch.
Fortunately you can restore your phone back to iOS 8.0 while Apple figures out what went wrong with the iOS 8.0.1 update that the company has already pulled from its servers.
If you were unlucky enough to have updated your phone and had cell service and TouchID torpedoed, all you need to do is restore your phone via iTunes. Because the iOS 8.0.1 update is gone from Apple’s servers, you’ll be pushed back to iOS 8.

Before you hit the restore button, you’ll want to back up your phone. Once that’s complete, hit Restore iPhone and expect your iPhone to be up and running in about an hour, depending on your available data speed.
Update: We’re hearing from readers that iTunes is still downloading iOS 8.0.1 to their iPhones. That’s no good. So here is a list of all iOS 8 IPSW (iPhone firmware) files for each iPhone.
Find and download your iPhone’s IPSW. Then option+click on Restore in iTunes. You’ll be prompted to find the IPSW you just downloaded. Use that file instead of downloading Apple’s and you should be restored back down to iOS 8.

Faraday wants you to believe it’s not a front for the Apple Car, but probably is

Billion dollar car companies don’t pop up overnight. Well, except Apple   Faraday . It plans to release its first vehicle in 2017, and claims it’ll have  15 percent more range  than the Tesla Model S. Bold. It’s also spending some serious loot. According to a recent  blog post , Apple  Faraday plans to spend $1 billion to develop a manufacturing plant in California, Nevada, Georgia or Louisiana in order to “explore other aspects of the automotive and technology industries, including unique ownership and usage models, in-vehicle content and autonomous driving.” The well-funded startup currently employs 400 people and adds 10 new hires a week. The new Xbox One Elite comes with a 1TB SSHD and Elite controller

The all-new  Xbox One Elite Console , announced today, is for the most serious console gamers out there. It features a 1TB solid state hybrid hard drive and the new customizable Elite controller for $499 in the US. Microsoft says the new SSHD hard drive means you’ll get into games 20 percent faster than the original Xbox One console and it automatically optimizes games and apps to open faster. The  Elite controller  allows gamers to customize the thumbsticks, directional pad and paddles for gamers to get the controller to their liking. As for the console itself, it doesn’t appear to be visually any different than the previous version of the Xbox One and the only internal difference appears to be the slightly speedier hard drive. Microsoft  also  announced a new ‘ lunar white ‘ version of the Xbox One controller which adds ‘improved grip texture’ and comes in white and gold for $64.99.
