This interactive map of the X-Men universe is my new favorite thing

When Marvel announced an API at the start of this year, comics fans got excited to see what developers could do with it. Here’s one of the coolest examples we’ve seen yet: World of X, an interactive map showing important locations from the X-Men series.

Created by Nclud designer Kyle Conrad, World of X offers summaries for each location and links to series that used it as a setting. The map uses night images from NASA to a nice effect, though the animations were a tad choppy on my computer.

If you grew up reading and watching X-Men, you can easily spend an hour poking around the map. Just be careful if you start clicking through to the Marvel.com links, as you might find yourself reading comics for the rest of the day.

The new Dropbox Pro features the ability to add view-only permissions to shared folders, passwords for shared links, and expiration dates for shared links. On top of that, users will be able to remotely wipe a device with a Dropbox account and all the files associated with that account. The view only permissions feature should solve the problem of sharing a folder with someone and having them either delete the contents or change the files inside the folder without your permission. Files in the folder cannot be edited and can’t be moved within the folder. They can be however dragged out of the folder and a copy is made. Faraday wants you to believe it’s not a front for the Apple Car, but probably is

Billion dollar car companies don’t pop up overnight. Well, except Apple   Faraday . It plans to release its first vehicle in 2017, and claims it’ll have  15 percent more range  than the Tesla Model S. Bold. It’s also spending some serious loot. According to a recent  blog post , Apple  Faraday plans to spend $1 billion to develop a manufacturing plant in California, Nevada, Georgia or Louisiana in order to “explore other aspects of the automotive and technology industries, including unique ownership and usage models, in-vehicle content and autonomous driving.” The well-funded startup currently employs 400 people and adds 10 new hires a week. Right now you’ll find them operating out of Nissan’s former California research facility.
